Nestled on the side of the river and tucked under the mountains,... read more the resort sits on a large plot of land managed through permaculture principles and based on the Balinese ideals of Tri Hita Karana. Based on these principles, the owner has limited the number of buildings so it really feels as though you are surrounded by space and privacy. Walking the grounds you can check out the various crops and plants cultivated on the land, which are used in the home-cooked food at the open air dining/kitchen area. Or wile away an afternoon by the river and enjoy meeting some folks from the surrounding village. And enjoy one of the most refreshing swims you can imagine in clear in the clear, cool spring water fed pool surrounded by trees. Our room was beautifully designed and comfortable, with a front porch area, large bed with mosquito net canopy, outdoor shower and a great back porch space with a hammock by the stream for more lounging and reading time! Internet is only available from the hotel in the common areas, but the Telkomsel signal is strong - would be a great place to work remotely or for writing retreat.

  My favourite escape from Canggu/Seminyak. Darmada is a special place and rare to find in Bali. Located in Sidemen which is still a sleepy local village with stunning landscapes everywhere... read more you look. Highly recommend swimming at sunset with the local kids in the river. Cant wait to go back.
